Applications are being accepted for a vacancy on the Superior Court in Maricopa County created by the appointment of Judge Susan M. Brnovich to the U.S. District Court, District of Arizona.

The Maricopa County Commission on Trial Court Appointments will review applications, interview selected applicants, and recommend at least three nominees for the vacancy to Governor Doug Ducey, who will appoint the new judge.

The most current judicial application form (revised January 2017) can be downloaded at the Judicial Department website: www.azcourts.gov/jnc. Applications may also be obtained from the Administrative Office of the Courts, Human Resources Department, 1501 W. Washington, Suite 221, Phoenix, by calling (602) 452-3311, or by sending an electronic mail request to jnc@courts.az.gov.

Applicants must be at least 30 years of age, of good moral character, admitted to the practice of law in, and a resident of Arizona for the past five years, and a resident of Maricopa County for the past year.

A signed original application with all attachments, and a searchable .pdf version of the application and attachments must be submitted to the Administrative Office of the Courts, Human Resources Department, 1501 W. Washington, Suite 221, Phoenix, AZ, 85007, by 3:00 p.m. on November 19, 2018.

Applicants for the recent vacancies in Maricopa County DO NOT need to reapply to be considered for the new vacancy.

The Commission may, at its discretion, use the applications filed for this vacancy to nominate candidates for any additional vacancies known to the Commission before the screening meeting for this vacancy is held.

All meetings of the Maricopa County Commission on Trial Court Appointments are open to the public.  Meeting dates will be announced.

The new judge will be paid $149,382.60 annually.

Summary: Assist Tribal Court Judges and Supreme Court Justices with legal research and the drafting of opinions in a timely manner while facilitating public access to the Court through the provision of procedural legal information.

Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited law school and in good standing of a State Bar. Strong research and writing skills. Strong word processing and computer research skills. Demonstrated interest in and familiarity with Tribal and Federal Indian Law. Fluency in Ho-Chunk Language desired but not required. Preference to members of the Ho-Chunk Nation, then other Native Americans. Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check. No felony convictions, no current open criminal cases or civil matters that would reflect negatively on the Judiciary Branch. Valid driver’s license, dependable transportation and proper insurance, is required. This is an appointed position.

Working Conditions: Office setting, courtroom. Occasional travel may be required.

Prior experience as a Judge preferred. Adult and juvenile experience equivalent to seven years full-time criminal justice, law enforcement, or closely related work, at least two years of which included supervisory/managerial responsibilities. Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA accredited university. Must be licensed to practice law in the State of Arizona, or acquire Arizona Bar Certification within one (1) year from date of hire. The Indian Health Service, Southwest Region Office of Human Resources, Workforce Relations Division is seeking to fill multiple Employee and Labor Relations Specialist  (ER/LR Specialist) positions. The IHS-18-PX-10271017-ESEP/MP announcement is posted on USA jobs and will close on August 24, 2018.  The GS-09/11-12 salary ranges from $52,229 to $94,464.
