Ho-Chunk Nation Staff Attorney-Law Clerk Judiciary Branch Black River Falls, WI. Summary: Assist Tribal Court Judges and Supreme Court Justices with legal research and the drafting of opinions in a timely manner while facilitating public access to the Court through the provision of procedural legal information. Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited law school and in good standing of a State Bar. Strong research and writing skills. Strong word processing and computer research skills. Demonstrated interest in and familiarity with Tribal and Federal Indian Law. Fluency in Ho-Chunk Language desired but not required. Preference to members of the Ho-Chunk Nation, then other Native Americans. Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check. No felony convictions, no current open criminal cases or civil matters that would reflect negatively on the Judiciary Branch. Valid driver’s license, dependable transportation and proper insurance, is required. This is an appointed position. Working Conditions: Office setting, courtroom. Occasional travel may be required. JOB SUMMARY:

This position is located within the Department of the Interior, Office of the Secretary, Office of Policy Analysis, Washington, DC.

This position is located in the Office of Policy Analysis, which reports to the Deputy Assistant Secretary – Policy and International Affairs, and the Assistant Secretary – Policy, Management and Budget (PMB). The Office assists the Deputy Assistant Secretary and the Assistant Secretary and Department leadership in formulating, developing, analyzing, evaluating, and executing the Department’s policies. This position will serve as a policy analyst addressing climate change and the impacts it has on Native Americans.

The Office provides cross-cutting analysis and coordination to support decision-making and policy development; it provides expertise and leadership to evaluate Departmental programs, to develop and coordinate new programs, to conduct studies of policies and programs, and to conduct relevant economic analyses. The Office coordinates and guides inter-agency and multi-bureau program development and policy analysis tasks and undertakes issue analysis and decision documents on behalf of the Secretary, Deputy Secretary, and the Assistant Secretary for Policy, Management and Budget. The Office also coordinates the Department’s activities related to invasive species, tribal water settlements, ocean, coastal, and Great Lakes resource management, and plays a major policy role in Arctic issues.

This is a permanent, full-time, career/career conditional appointment.

Salary Information
GS-14 $107,325-$139,523 per annum. First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the lower salary range of the grade level.

This vacancy is also announced as OS-6010-15-RD-110(MP) for those applicants who wish to apply and be considered under Merit Promotion procedures.

The Office of Policy Analysis has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework and the selectee may be allowed to telework with supervisor approval.
