Job Opportunity – Contract Services Prosecutor

Department: Tribal Prosecutor’s Office
Reports to: Tribal Prosecutor

Essential Functions: Essential functions may include the following tasks, knowledge, skills, and other characteristics. This list is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY, and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by positions in this class.

Tasks:

  • Represents the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation in all criminal, juvenile, dependency and/or comparable actions;
  • Represents the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation in all appeals of all criminal and juvenile actions;
  • Prosecutes violations of tribal laws and ordinances and negotiates plea agreements;
  • Effective Representation, Contractor shall provide effective legal representation of the Nation including, but not limited to;
  • Working knowledge of the Fort
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.

POSITION STATUS: Contract on Case by Case basis.

SKILLS / REQUIREMENTS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION/EDUCATION:

  • A law degree from an accredited law school and Membership in the State Bar of Arizona; or Certification of a Tribal Advocate Training program
  • Three years of responsible experience in criminal prosecution or defense of criminal cases including jury trials;
  • Must be able to provide and maintain Errors and Omissions Malpractice Liability Insurance;
  • Tribal experience desirable;
  • Current Arizona driver’s license and ability to meet insurance standards,
  • Experience with computer legal research.
