The Ethnic Studies Department at Colorado State University invites applications for one 9-month tenure track position in either African American or Native American Studies. This is an Assistant Professor position and salary is commensurate with qualifications. The final result of this search will be only one hire.

Reporting to the Associate Dean for Administration & Students, the Director exercises independent judgment to develop and direct the law school’s admissions program, including the development and implementation of a coherent, unified marketing strategy to maximize the breadth and quality of the applicant pool; development and oversight of admission office procedures and polices and supervision of admissions staff; counsel prospective applicants; participate, as a voting member, with the faculty admissions committee in the applicant evaluation and decision making process; plan special recruitment events on and off-campus for prospective and admitted applicants; and working with faculty and committees as needed. The Criminal Law Reform Project seeks an end to excessively harsh crime policies that result in mass incarceration and stand in the way of a just and equal society. The Project focuses its work at the “front end” of the criminal justice system. The Project begins its work from an individual’s first contact with law enforcement through to the sentencing phase. CLRP places an emphasis on ending drug prohibition, which has failed to achieve public safety while putting unprecedented numbers of people behind bars and eroding constitutional rights. The Project fulfills its mission by litigating and conducting strategic and precedent-setting advocacy that promotes reform of the criminal justice system and drug laws in particular, reduces the number of people entering the system, and protects the constitutional rights of those in the system.
Our Summer 2014 legal internship requires a 10-12 week commitment, and is full-time. Interns are highly encouraged to obtain funding from outside sources. Arrangements can be made for work/study or course credit.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
