Applications are being accepted for a vacancy on Division One of the Arizona Court of Appeals, created by the retirement of Judge Maurice Portley. The Commission on Appellate Court Appointments will review applications, interview selected applicants, and recommend at least three nominees to Governor Doug Ducey.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

An updated version of the application form can be downloaded at the Judicial Department website: <\/span><\/span>www.azcourts.gov\/jnc<\/span><\/u><\/span><\/a>. Applications may also be obtained from the Administrative Office of the Courts, Human Resources Department, 1501 W. Washington, Suite 221, Phoenix, by calling (602) 452-3311, or by sending an electronic mail request to <\/span><\/span>jnc@courts.az.gov<\/span><\/u><\/span><\/a>. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Applicants must be at least 30 years of age, of good moral character, and admitted to the practice of law in Arizona, as well as a resident of Arizona, for the past five years. To be eligible, an applicant must also have resided in Maricopa County for the past three years.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The original completed application, one single-sided copy and 16 double-sided copies must be returned to the Administrative Office of the Courts, Human Resources Department, 1501 W. Washington, Suite 221, Phoenix, AZ, 85007, by 3:00 p.m. on <\/strong><\/span>September 6, 2016.<\/strong>\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Applicants for the recent vacancy in Division One of the Arizona Court of Appeals DO NOT need to reapply to be considered for the new vacancy.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/span>The Commission may, at its discretion, use the applications filed for this vacancy to nominate candidates for any additional vacancies known to the Commission before the screening meeting for this vacancy is held.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/span>All meetings of the Commission on Appellate Court Appointments are open to the public.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/span>As of January 1, 2017, the new judge will be paid $<\/span>152,250<\/span><\/span> annually.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
