General Definition:<\/span> Performs professional legal work in preparation of court cases.\u00a0 Researches and tries routine cases in accordance with state and federal laws.<\/p>\n

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:<\/span> Possess knowledge of legal principles and applications, legal research methods; scope of tribal, state and federal laws affecting the placement and welfare of Chickasaw children; knowledge of court rules, hearing procedures and of rules of evidence.\u00a0 Skills in performing research, analyzing, appraising and applying legal principles, facts and standards to legal dilemmas. In presenting statement of fact, argues clearly and logically in written and oral form; is clear and concise when drafting statutes and other legal instruments, documents and correspondence involving the explanation of legal matters. Individual must have a thorough understanding of laws affecting the placement and welfare of Chickasaw children, specifically the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA), Oklahoma ICWA, Adoptions and Safe Families Act (ASFA), Oklahoma Children Code and Chickasaw Children\u2019s Code.<\/p>\n
