{"id":2973,"date":"2013-10-01T15:31:14","date_gmt":"2013-10-01T15:31:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/newsletters.asucollegeoflaw.com\/ilp\/?p=2973"},"modified":"2014-10-08T23:38:47","modified_gmt":"2014-10-08T23:38:47","slug":"call-for-nominations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsletters.asucollegeoflaw.com\/ilp\/2013\/10\/01\/call-for-nominations\/","title":{"rendered":"Call for Nominations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p align=\"center\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Call for Nominations<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Indian Legal Program at the Sandra Day O\u2019Connor College of Law has created three awards to be given annually to recognize the ILP\u2019s distinguished alumni.\u00a0 The inaugural awards will be presented at the ILP 25th Anniversary Dinner on November 22, 2013.\u00a0 Awards will be given in the following categories: the<strong><span style=\"font-size: small\"> Indian Legal Program Professional Achievement Award<\/span><\/strong>, the<strong><span style=\"font-size: small\"> Indian Legal Program Alumni Service Award<\/span><\/strong>, and the <strong><span style=\"font-size: small\">Indian Legal Program Emerging Leader Award<\/span><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Nomination materials are due by <span style=\"font-family: Arial\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><span style=\"font-size: small\">October 18, 2013<\/span><\/span>.\u00a0 Nomination materials should be sent by email or mail to:<\/p>\n<p>Patty Ferguson-Bohnee<br \/>\nIndian Legal Program<br \/>\nSandra Day O&#8217;Connor College of Law<br \/>\nPO Box 877906<br \/>\nTempe, AZ\u00a0 85287<br \/>\n<\/span><a href=\"mailto:pafergus@asu.edu\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial;font-size: small\">pafergus@asu.edu<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">2014 Indian Legal Program Awards Nomination Guidelines<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small\"><strong>Indian Legal Program Professional Achievement Award<\/strong><br \/>\n<\/span><br \/>\nThe Indian Legal Program Professional Achievement Award recognizes outstanding achievement in Indian Law or Tribal Law throughout an individual\u2019s career.\u00a0 The award honors ILP alumni whose achievements in the field of Indian Law or Tribal Law have brought distinction to themselves and real benefit to the Indian community.<\/p>\n<p>Nomination Package Requirements<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Describe the unique professional achievements in the field of Indian Law or Tribal Law that has brought distinction to the candidate.\u00a0 (maximum two pages)<\/li>\n<li>Describe the recognized contributions made by this candidate that demonstrate a benefit to the larger community? (maximum one page)<\/li>\n<li>Describe the ways in which the candidate&#8217;s achievements are truly extraordinary or exceptional.\u00a0 (maximum one page)<\/li>\n<li>Provide at least two letters of support from individuals that can speak to the candidate&#8217;s impact on his or her profession.<\/li>\n<li>Letters of support should speak to the magnitude of the individual&#8217;s impact in the practice of Indian or tribal law or in the Indian community.<\/li>\n<li>Provide a 200 word bio of the nominee.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small\"><strong>Indian Legal Program Alumni Service Award<\/strong><br \/>\n<\/span><br \/>\nThe ILP Alumni Service Award is given for outstanding service to the Indian Legal Program, and is awarded for extended, extraordinary service to the Indian Legal Program.<\/p>\n<p>Nomination Package Requirements<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Describe the ways in which the candidate has served or supported the ILP and the ILP alumni.\u00a0 Examples can include serving on committees, boards, CLEs, mentoring ILP students, or other volunteer or fundraising efforts or funding commitments.\u00a0 (maximum one page)<\/li>\n<li>Describe the ways this service been truly extraordinary.\u00a0 (maximum one page)<\/li>\n<li>Describe how the candidate\u2019s service has benefited the ILP.\u00a0 (maximum one page)<\/li>\n<li>Please provide at least two letters of support from ILP alumni as part of the nomination package.<\/li>\n<li>Provide a 200 word bio of the nominee.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small\"><strong>Indian Legal Program Emerging Leader Award<\/strong><br \/>\n<\/span><br \/>\nThe ILP Emerging Leader Award acknowledges and encourages service to the ILP by alumni who are less than ten years out of law school.\u00a0 The award recognizes outstanding achievements in promoting or supporting the ILP through volunteer support of ILP and\/or ASU NALSA.\u00a0 Such activities could include support of the ASU NALSA Golf Tournament, mentoring, fundraising, volunteering for ASU NALSA moot court, volunteering at ILP events, and student recruitment.<\/p>\n<p>Nomination Package Requirements<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Describe how the candidate achieved an exceptional level of service while balancing the demands of being a recent graduate.
