Trial Attorneys in the District Court Section<br \/>\nrepresent the Department of Homeland Security and other agencies with<br \/>\nimmigration-related missions, in both defensive litigation, and in affirmative<br \/>\ndenaturalization cases. Trial Attorneys personally handle individual and class<br \/>\naction cases as first-chair litigators through all phases of litigation in the<br \/>\nfederal district courts. Trial Attorneys develop significant litigation<br \/>\nexperience in these cases, and additional experience briefing and arguing<br \/>\nappeals of district court decisions in the various circuit courts of appeal.<br \/>\nThe office currently has approximately 50 attorneys, led by a Director, a<br \/>\nDeputy Director, and three Assistant Directors who oversee four litigating<br \/>\nteams.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Opportunity Offered<\/span><\/strong>: The Office of Immigration<br \/>\nLitigation, District Court Section, seeks to fill one Trial Attorney position<br \/>\nwith promotion potentional to GS-0905-15.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Qualifications<\/span><\/strong>: Applicants must possess a<br \/>\nJ.D. degree, must be admitted to the bar (any jurisdiction), and must have a<br \/>\nminimum of one year&#8217;s legal experience. The FTC also works to<br \/>\nenhance the smooth operation of the marketplace by eliminating marketing acts<br \/>\nor practices that are unfair or deceptive. The FTC conducts economic analyses<br \/>\nto support its law enforcement efforts and to contribute to the policy<br \/>\ndeliberations of the Agency, the Congress, the Executive Branch, and other<br \/>\norganizations.<\/p>\n<p>The Federal Trade Commission\u2019s Office<br \/>\nof Policy Planning assists the Commission to develop and implement long-range<br \/>\ncompetition and consumer protection policy initiatives and advises staff on<br \/>\ncases raising new or complex policy and legal issues. The Office of Policy<br \/>\nPlanning is seeking an attorney with intellectual property experience to<br \/>\nsupport the office\u2019s work.<\/p>\n<p>As an attorney in the Office of<br \/>\nPolicy Planning, you will perform a variety of legal duties, including<br \/>\nfrequently challenging legal and policy analysis. Often the work of the staff<br \/>\nincludes advisory functions related to antitrust policy and enforcement efforts<br \/>\nunder the various statutes enforced by the Commission. A successful staff<br \/>\nmember has interest in and the ability to deal with both legal analysis and<br \/>\neconomic and practical business issues arising from the policy issues under<br \/>\nconsideration.
