Duties and Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Associate General Counsel is\u00a0responsible for providing a high level of professional legal service by\u00a0representing and advising the Arizona Board of Regents and Arizona State\u00a0University on a broad range of issues including business law, education law,\u00a0procurement law, public law, knowledge and research enterprise development, and\u00a0other legal matters. This position will concentrate primarily on supporting\u00a0ASU’s business activities.<\/p>\n

-Responsible for: complex commercial transactions and\u00a0relationships; finance, and public procurement; conflicts of interest;\u00a0regulatory compliance; risk assessment and management; knowledge and research\u00a0enterprise development; other regulatory matters.<\/p>\n

-Provide advice relating to:research grants and sponsored programs administration; HIPAA; other local,\u00a0state, federal and ABOR regulations or policies impacting research at Arizona\u00a0State University.<\/p>\n

-Assist with the development of educational training\u00a0programs for administrators, faculty, and staff.<\/p>\n

-Interact regularly with senior level administration\u00a0and with state, local, and federal regulatory offices.<\/p>\n

Minimum Qualifications
\n<\/strong>J.D. or L.L.B. degree from an ABA accredited law school and\u00a0six (6) years of experience in the practice of law, including experience in the\u00a0primary practice area(s) designated by the Senior Vice President and General\u00a0Counsel.<\/p>\n

Must be an active member in good standing with the State Bar\u00a0of Arizona within twelve (12) months of hire.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n

Desired\u00a0Qualifications
\n<\/strong>Demonstrated knowledge of\u00a0business, administrative, public procurement, research and regulatory issues. \u00a0Experience in: working in a diverse and complex environment; working with\u00a0structuring, negotiating, and drafting complex transactions and agreements\u00a0relevant to a complex public research university; legal research; advocacy;\u00a0problem solving. Evidence of effective verbal and written communication skills.<\/p>\n
