It is at the<br \/>\nforefront in changing industry and public awareness to recognize that<br \/>\nenvironmental violations are serious infractions that transgress basic<br \/>\ninterests and values. The Section works closely with criminal investigators for<br \/>\nthe Environmental Protection Agency, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and<br \/>\nother law enforcement agencies in prosecuting criminal violations of the Clean<br \/>\nAir Act, the Clean Water Act, the Act to Prevent Pollution from Ships, and the<br \/>\nResource Conservation and Recovery Act, as well as other federal statutes. In<br \/>\naddition, the Section prosecutes criminal cases under a number of federal<br \/>\nwildlife laws, including the Lacey Act, the Migratory Bird Treaty Act, and the<br \/>\nEndangered Species Act. These cases, handled in conjunction with the U.S. Fish<br \/>\nand Wildlife Service and NOAA Fisheries Enforcement (National Marine Fisheries<br \/>\nService), involve smuggling and illegal trafficking in protected wildlife,<br \/>\nillegal take of protected species, and hunting offenses.<\/p>\n<p>For more information about the Environment &amp;<br \/>\nNatural Resources Division, visit the Justice Department&#8217;s web site at: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.usdoj.gov\/enrd\/\">http:\/\/www.usdoj.gov\/enrd\/<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Responsibilities and Opportunity Offered<\/span><\/strong>: The individual selected will be responsible for<br \/>\nhandling a range of matters, including some of the most complex cases assigned<br \/>\nto the Section. A solid litigation record is<br \/>\nrequired. The ideal candidate will possess a strong criminal\/enforcement<br \/>\nbackground and have knowledge of the various environmental laws described<br \/>\nabove.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">How You Will Be Evaluated<\/span><\/strong>: You will be evaluated based on your qualifications<br \/>\nfor this position as evidenced by the experience you report relative to this<br \/>\nposition. Paid or unpaid experience will be considered.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Travel<\/span><\/strong>:<br \/>\nThe individual hired should expect substantial travel.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Salary Information<\/span><\/strong>: Current salary and years of experience will<br \/>\ndetermine the appropriate salary level.
