The main office is<br \/>\nlocated in Albuquerque. The branch office in Las Cruces is located<br \/>\napproximately 225 miles south of Albuquerque, is 50 miles from the Mexican<br \/>\nborder, and includes approximately 45 of the District employees and<br \/>\ncontractors. The District also has an unstaffed office in Santa Fe.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Responsibilities and<br \/>\nOpportunity Offered<\/span><\/strong>: The attorney<br \/>\nselected will handle prosecutions of a wide variety of federal offenses.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Qualifications<\/span><\/strong>: Applicants must possess a J.D. degree, be an active<br \/>\nmember, in good standing, of the bar (any jurisdiction), and have at least one<br \/>\n(1) year of post-J.D. experience.<\/p>\n<p>Applicants must demonstrate a<br \/>\nquick analytical ability and the facility to accurately and precisely<br \/>\narticulate the critical issues in a case and demonstrate superior oral and<br \/>\nwriting skills as well as strong research and interpersonal skills, and good<br \/>\njudgment. Applicants must possess excellent communication and courtroom skills<br \/>\nand exhibit the ability to work in a supportive and professional manner with other<br \/>\nattorneys, support staff and client agencies. Applicants must have a<br \/>\ndemonstrated capacity to function, with minimal guidance, in a highly demanding<br \/>\noffice and courtroom environment.<\/p>\n<p>Applicants will be expected<br \/>\nto conduct their own legal research and writing and must be substantially<br \/>\nself-sufficient in preparing day to day correspondence and pleadings.<br \/>\nApplicants also must possess computer literacy skills to include experience<br \/>\nwith automated research, electronic court filing, electronic e-mail and word processing<br \/>\nsystems.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Travel<\/span><\/strong>: Moderate travel may be required.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Salary Information<\/span><\/strong>: Assistant United States Attorneys&#8217; pay is<br \/>\nadministratively determined based, in part, on the number years of professional<br \/>\nattorney experience. The range of pay for this position is $50,894 &#8211; $150,159,<br \/>\nincluding locality pay, depending on experience.
