\nJOB CITY : Ignacio, CO<\/p>\n

DESCRIPTION:
\nThe Legal Department of the Southern Ute Indian Tribe represents, advises, and supports the Tribe, at the direction of the Tribal Council. The Department is responsible for advising both the Permanent Fund and Casino and may on occasion and subject to direction from the Tribal Council, work with the Tribe\u2019s Growth Fund and its legal representation as well.\u00a0 The Director is responsible for providing such representation, advice, and support while also supervising and leading the Legal Department to support the needs of the Tribe.<\/p>\n

Required Skills:
\nMust have a law degree from an American Bar Association accredited law school.
\nMust be licensed to practice law in the State of Colorado and in good standing with the Colorado Supreme Court or will become licensed within a year of hiring.
\nMust be admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the District of Colorado or will become admitted within a year of hiring.
\nMust have a minimum of 12 years of experience as an attorney.
\nMust have a minimum of 5 years of practicing in the field of federal Indian law.
\nMust have computer experience in software programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
\nMust have a valid Driver\u2019s License for the state of residency and be insurable under the Tribal vehicle insurance policy.
\nMust pass a thorough criminal history background check and pre-employment drug test.<\/p>\n

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
\nMore than fifteen years of experience as an attorney.
\nSignificant experience representing Indian tribes, preferably in-house or as general counsel.
\nSignificant litigation experience.
\nSignificant experience in employment law.
\nSupervisory experience.
\nExperience drafting codes and policies.<\/p>\n
